Introducing: Eyeda – By @IdaSophiaZ

Is it our fault that the Lauryn Hill’s and Pete Rock’s
Kurt Cobain’s and Gil Scott’s
No longer exist,
Music now mixed into a melting mosh pit
Turn on MTV or BET and watch what
I see…
Jaw dropping ladies who drop they panties to a Mercedes
Don’t it seem crazy to love something that can’t reciprocate the statement?
See a stack of bills can give you thrills,
But in life there are bigger payments
We’re all stuck, addicted to buying stuff,
Rather receive bucks, than good company and trust
See these kids post on twitter, tumblr and Facebook Bob Marley quotes, but still don’t know
That wisdom is better than silver and gold
We molded money into our minds
Instead of knowledge, dollars and dimes,
But what’s the worth of a coin if it doesn’t make change of any kind?
Now that’s a penny for your thoughts,
Throw it in that designer purse that you just bought
Or give to someone who needs it more than you
Perhaps throw it up on stage at
Lil Wayne, Dame and 2 Chainz telling you not you use your one brain
Three rappers, but fact is what they’re all saying is the damn same
Shoot first, fill your purse, more fame
We wonder why the revolution hasn’t risen from the grain?
Because a fist can’t be lifted at a gunman’s game…
We play, but always against the odds.
The dice of life are double sided with loss
But I push by and shrug it off,
Because John Lennon told me, to let it be, it’ll exhaust eventually
Still so it seems
These kids watch tv, so these kids do what they see,
But if these kids don’t see themselves, then they’re their own worst enemy
Feed the generation plentifully, but with wise words and integrity
If the youth aren’t stimulated mentally
Who is the next Lauryn or Lennon really meant to be?
